Tableau’s Visual Analytics Brings Big Data in Google’s Cloud to Life
Tableau Software, the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software, today announced its integration with Google BigQuery, a fully managed cloud-based service that enables businesses to interactively analyze enormous amounts of data in the cloud.
Tableau’s direct connection to BigQuery enables business users to easily visualize and analyze Big Data in just a few clicks. Tableau made the announcement at the 2012 Tableau Customer Conference in San Diego and is releasing a preview of the BigQuery connector available for use by its current customers this month. The BigQuery native connection in Tableau will be generally available in Tableau 8.0, expected to be released in the first quarter of 2013.
BigQuery is designed for running interactive queries against very large datasets, even up to billions of rows and terabytes of data. Fast performance combined with the ability to scale automatically, as well as simplicity, sharing capabilities, security and multiple access methods make BigQuery a preferred Big Data analysis tool for businesses with growing data analysis needs.
“BigQuery’s query performance at scale combined with Tableau’s fast and easy analytics puts powerful visualization and business intelligence directly into the hands of business users,” said Ju-kay Kwek, Product Manager for Google BigQuery. “The combination of BigQuery and Tableau enables users to ask complex business questions and get results quickly, in effect allowing them to have an interactive conversation with their data.”
Tableau and BigQuery together do analytics on Big Data in the Google's cloud with characteristic self-service and simplicity from Google and Tableau, without the need to set up massive infrastructure or time-consuming IT projects. The result is interactive analysis of Big Data without the need for complex coding or complicated configuration steps.
“Google BigQuery’s scalable platform and Tableau’s interactive analysis will make it possible to discover insights from massive amounts of data by the business analyst,” said Dan Jewett, Vice President of Product Management at Tableau Software. “This announcement furthers our mission to help people see and understand data and our momentum as the de facto standard for Big Data analytics.”
In addition to the BigQuery connector, Tableau has also joined Google’s Cloud Technology Partner program and is announcing a native connection to Google Analytics, Google’s website statistics service, also available in Tableau 8.0.
