| Did you figure out how I labeled the marks with abbreviated week day? Read below to see how I did it. |
First I dragged the Order Date field to the Text shelf so the data labels show the date. Then I aggregated the Order Date field using All Values so I can specify a custom date format that uses week day. Then I opened the Format window and selected Order Date from the Field List in the upper right corner. Next was the tricky part, I selected the Pane tab so that I could set a custom date format for the data labels without messing up the axis formatting I had already set up. When you switch to the Pane tab there is a Dates drop-down under the Default area. I used the DDD format.
Once you get the hang of using the Format window you'll start to see how you can use it for all kinds of things including adding context to your views and making them easier to interpret. By the way, you probably noticed that I also filtered the Order Date field so I could focus on a specifc time range. + Download a packaged workbook containing this solution. |
