Dashboard does not show sheet plots if Pages are used
Excuse newbie question (actually evaluating). I want to work with large varied datasets of sensor information. Already a barrier is not being able to place two different tables in the same graph where their scales are different (see Excel thread in this forum).
Instead, my plan was to put two copies of the same tables on separate Sheets, to display the different fields on each Sheet, and then use the Dashboard to compare the plots. The plots can have the same time scales (X-axis) so, although cumbersome, this would be OK instead of having the data on the same plot.
To manage my large range of sensor data fields I have set these up as pages. Then I can quickly swap from one type of data to the next, also this gives a consistent sequence. The alternative of filtering each time I want to change the type of sensor is, again, more cumbersome than I really care for.
However, whenever I put a "Paged" sheet into a dashboard, I get the first "Page" of data in the workbook, regardless of the page that is displayed on the parent Sheet. Conceptually, I would have expected the Dashboard to show whatever is on the Sheet. This is certainly what happens with unmodified sheets, or sheets that are controlled by Filters. The only solution is to take off the 'Page' visualisation, and conver to a to a Filter, and filter one by one each time I want to change.
Am I missing something, or is the "Page" approach incompatible with the Dashboard?
Thanks for assistance

It is possible to create a worksheet showing two charts above and below each other with a shared X-axis or side by side with a shared Y-axis. I've attached an example using the Sample - Superstore Sales data source. Does this address your question?
You are correct, however, that Dashboards always show the first page.
If you still prefer to use a dashboard, you can make using a filter in the dashbooard easier by
1. In the dashboard, select the sheet
2. Use the menu option View->Quick Filters->(the field you want to filter on)
3. Select the quick filter, then right click on its blue border
4. Choose the menu options "Make Global" (to affect all the sheets) and "Select Single Value"
Now you can move between data sets with a single click on the quick filter. You still don't get the animation that the page shelf provides, however.
Thanks for both replies Dirk. I did not have the datset to test the first response. The second response has been quite helpful and pretty well meets the requirements I have. Thanks.
Glad to hear that the second example worked for you.
As for the first, the Sample - Superstore Sales excel spreadsheet ought to be in your installation directory, C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau 3.5\help\Workbooks or the equivalent if you installed somewhere else.
You can create your own worksheet with a shared X-axis by placing the shared measure (say, time) onto Columns and both of the other measures (say, Sales and Profit) onto Rows.
