Maps outside the USA

I got quite excited when a Postcode and County field from my sales out data got listed with a globe next to each... but on selecting either, Tableau admits defeat and assumes the co-ordinates of my data are in the Atlantic off Nigeria (at least I think that's where 0,0 is normally positioned!).

Any plans to bring in functionality to be able to do postcodes, counties etc outside the USA (the UK in my case)? Or a method for us to do it ourselves??

Hi Ian. We're definitely not finished with geocoding and mapping! We hope that the 4.0 release hits the sweet spot for a lot of our customers, but we'll definitely be working on extensibility in multiple ways down the road. I'm not on the mapping team, and have to be vague in any case, but can tell you that we are aware of and share the desire to geocode more than just what we packed in to the 4.0 installer.

I'd be very grateful for the same functionality in Germany. I think it would also be fair to mention this auto-mapping limitation for your international customers in the manuals or even better - on your website.

Best Regards,

JH

To add to the requests, I suggest you rename "zipcode" to "postal code" so that it can be used uniformly with US and non-US data.

Also, matching on 3-digit zipcode values would definitely be useful.

Good to here you guys are actively working on the mapping - would like to add UK to the requested list of geographical types.

Thanks

Graham
