Tableau Reader + IE
Posted November 12th, 2007 by Peter Schmidt
Tableau Reader is a great enhancement! But with IE6 we have the problem, that IE always want to open the .twbx-file as a .zip-file. Do you know how we can handle that? With firefox it works fine. (I know: It seems to be a local IE-problem, but hope that you have a little hint for us ...)

Peter, is this still a problem for you?
When you click a link to a twbx file (such as in the Visual Examples section of this site), and then click Run it should open automatically in Tableau.
If you are still having trouble can you give us some more information such as what version of IE you are using and the steps you are taking to open the TWBX files?
It's still and only a problem for IE-Users. Firefox is working well.
1.) We have this intranet-link: http://[...]/files/twbx/99_GIRONEUKUNDEN.twbx
2.) IE (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227_2300) wants to open 99_GIRONEUKUNDEN.zip(!)
Hmm, I don't see this in 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254. Try this experiment: Rename the .zip to .twbx, and see if it opens. If not, try unzipping the .zip - is there a .twbx inside that you can open?
If it's the latter, my best guess is that your internal web server is zipping things up to save bandwidth, or something to that effect...
