GDP Size and Growth Across the World: Which Countries Are Gaining and Which Are Not?

The emergence of China as an economic powerhouse and potential threat to the U.S.’s and Euorpe’s economies have been dramatically covered by news media as have China’s problems with poverty, product quality, and population. So how big is China compared to the US and European countries? And how fast is it growing? In one view, this visual example tells all. China’s economy is second to the U.S. but still significantly smaller (shown by circle size). Yet its growth rate (shown by color of the circle) is far faster than any other major country at over 9% followed closely by Russia and India.
