Are Lower Income Groups Losing Ground Faster?

Here we are analyzing a survey with collection dates that have been restated. Households with LT $50K in income and households with GT $150K in income experienced income growth in Q2 of 05. But the upper income households showed a corresponding gain in liquid assets while the lower income group showed a dramatic drop. Might it be that a surge in income for the lower group caused increased confidence and desire to spend while a similar surge in the upper income group resulted in additional savings? Or is it that our data are suspect?
