The Long Paths Hurricanes Travel to Get to the Gulf of Mexico
Using an antique map as its background, this visualization demonstrates that hurricanes travel long paths as relatively weak storms from as far as Europe and Africa and build up in strength (measured by Power Dissipation Index, or PDI) as they settle in the Gulf of Mexico.
