Impact of "Open-ness"

Do patients who disclose their HIV status recover better?

This view evaluates whether patients who are open about being HIV positive recover differently than those that are closed about their illness. Each survey respondent has a unique Patient ID. Each of those patients is represented by a dot for each visit they had to the doctor. The lines represent the average for the overall population. As you can see, disclosure of HIV status and sexual orientation independently predict increased absolute CD4 cell counts over time for psychiatric patients. Psychosomatic Medicine, 69, 74-80.
