Hyperlinking: Use the Power of the Web

URL actions are useful when you what to link to information that is not in your data. These actions create hyperlinks that point to web pages, files, or other web-based resources outside of Tableau. The link can open a new webpage or load in a web object directly in the dashboard.

To create a URL action, select Edit->Actions from the menu and then add your url:

Your URL actions are fully integrated with your data. In the example below, clicking on a screen name will open the Twitter profile in a web page. To do this, the viz author simply created a URL Action that points to www.twitter.com/<username>
