About this Viz
Non-mountaineers may be interested to learn a little bit of terminology here. "Prominence" refers to the vertical distance one must descend from the peak to reach a higher summit. Mountains with huge circular cinder cones have high prominence, though they may be at a much lower elevation than mountains with low prominence. In this viz, you can see that some of the peaks with high prominence have a very distinct cinder cone shape.
