Here we set the criteria with four variables: organic carbon content, texture, available soil water content, and soil type (but this could be easily expanded to whichever variables that are significant for the specific scope of studies). Starting from more than 3,400 soil profiles, you can narrow down to the closest ones that fit the specific conditions of your study site by changing the values of these four variables. Once you’ve found a reasonable subset of soil profiles, you can export their list, find the particular soil profile from the database file and use them in your crop model application.
