Bob Morrison and Stephen McDaniel created this visualization to show how spending per pupil affects (or doesn't!) SAT scores in New Jersey. Select an income group (district factor) on the view to the left to browse the other views.
About this Viz
As you can tell from the scatter, spending per pupil does not seem to change test scores. Conversely, the district factor group (color encoding) has a very clear affect. If you click and drag to select the southern part of the state, it is clear that geography plays a role as well.
Our apologies to the original authors for having to re size the viz to fit here.
