Recession Widens Jobs and Jobless Gap

As you can see in this viz from Anthony Calabrese at The State of the USA, the gap between jobs and the jobless has hovered between 2-6 million people for the duration of the past decade. However, in the past two years that number has shot up to over 11 million.

About this Viz

Although there has been some relief from the peak of October 2009 (13 million), it is clear that this gap is an extremely difficult one to close. The recession may be over, but jobs have yet to recover.
