Stephen has 20 years of experience leading data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytical efforts across a wide range of industries and applications. His roles have been widely varied and include work as a Director of Web Advertising Analytics, Manager of Marketing Analytics at Netflix and REI, Senior Biostatistician, Senior Statistical Programmer, Senior Software Product Manager at Brio Technology, Senior Director of R&D at SAS, and Manager of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence at HP. Though the years, he has presented papers at business intelligence conferences and lectured at a number of universities.
Stephen is the lead author of “SAS for Dummies”, Wiley Press, 2007. His personal philosophy is centered on ensuring that analysis is clearly driven by business needs and focuses on ease of interpretation and ability to act on the results. He is currently working on a book guiding people on how to discover and share profound insights via Tableau 5.0. His personal interests include hiking in the Puget Sound region, visiting wineries in Washington and Oregon, skiing, sailing, and enjoying great food with friends and family.
